A cappuccino features espresso along with steamed milk as well as milk froth and is often seen as a luxury. In fact, if it’s made correctly it can even serve as a dessert.
The americano has it’s origins in the Second World War, when American soldiers we’re stationed in Italy and disliked the strong, bitter taste of the local espresso’s being served in coffee houses. To make the drink more palatable to their as-yet untrained tastes, the American’s would double and then dilute their espresso – making a rich and longer-lasting beverage.
